Looking Backward
As we have gone along our research journey, you have (hopefully) come across some fairly interesting facts, thoughts and information about what life was like a hundred years or so ago. With that thought firmly entrenched (yes, you need to look that word up if you don't know it; dictionary.com, the link at the bottom of your blog page, is extremely helpful for those endeavors) in your mind, try to imagine what your life would be like if you lived in the same time your character did. What would that be like for you? If you could go back to ANY period in time and live your life, what would it be and why? Would you like to go back as a participant or just an observer (like an angel or something like that). What is it about that time period that appeals to you? What do you think your choice says about your personality? Think about it before you answer. (250/300 words/45pts)

Well, I guess you do learn something new everyday. Entrenched- To fix firmly or securely: "Today managed care plans are entrenched in the economy, enrolling 61 percent of the population" (Peter T. Kilborn). Since that’s out of the way and newly added to my vocabulary, I can write about my thought that is “firmly entrenched” in my mind. The time period and place that I have for my paper is the Gold Rush in California. Chinese people were the main topic of my picture. At the time of the Gold Rush, Chinese people were discriminated because they excelled. This shows how time has moved on but things have not changed. When people begin to move ahead of others, people try to pull the achievers back. Nobody wants anyone to be better than them. Another point that I came across while researching was that the Chinese people were discriminated against because they were different. People usually take difference as a threat because they don’t know. During the Gold Rush, I would be looked upon as an average American, because I am white and come from a good family. If I could go back to any time period, I would probably go back to when my Grandpop was growing up in Philadelphia. My Grandpop’s childhood seems very interesting. He seemed like he had a good childhood. I would probably like to be an observer, like an angel, if I could see him growing up. I wish I could do that for a lot of things just so I could relive the great memories in the past, and in my life too. I think this choice shows that I cherish a lot of moments and would love to see a lot of things again.
if i were to live the life of my character my life would pretty much suck. my character lived a horrible life and lost many of his friend and family members. my character was forced to walk hundreds of miles after being kicked out of his home and after watching many of his people get killed. if i were to go back to any period of time and live my life it would definately not be the time of my character but probably during the time of the mayans. i dont know why but i find all of the mayan culture very interesting. but anyway i would probably go just as an observer for many reasons. first i would go back to this time period because how the mayans were so smart and technologically advanced for their time period interests me. all of their buildings and just everything about them is pretty cool. i would only go as an observer though because the mayans did go through alot of warfare. also, the mayans sacrificed many people and had some pretty strict living rules. but other than that the living conditions were pretty good. i honestly have no idea what this says about my personality because i didnt really think the time period i would want to be in has to do with my personality. lastly it may say that i have a curious and very open personality
Well your right as i went through and found all of my research i did learn quite a few interesting things that happened during this time period which is probably why i was able to write 15 pages, and still counting. If i lived during my characters time period i would probably be just like my character, so that means that that i would be in the army helping fight the spainards just like i said that my character was doing. Lets see...if i could pick any time period to go back to i would probably pick the time that we wee fighting In World War Two. I would pick world war two because ive always been astounded by wars and what happened during them or why they were being fought. Ive ready so many books about world war two taht i think it would be cool to see what had happened first hand. I wouldnt just be a witness either, i would be upo there in the front trenches with u gun in my hand trying to take on some of those men that were coming at us. The fact that this was possibly one of the worst wars in history is what i like about about and the fact that even though there were so many people out there that wanted to kill us and the fact that America came out on top which just shows you the way that the american spirit will take up the challenge and overcome it.
My topic for my research paper is the Panama Canal in 1898. If i lived back then, I would probably be the daughter or spouse of a man that is going off to Panama to build the isthmus. That would probably suck on my part being that a lot of men that went down there died to a disease such as malaria or yellow fever. I couldn't imagine one of my loved ones going to a foreign country then never coming back because they died. That is a horrible thought. If i could live in any time period in the past, I think that it would be the fifties. I think it would be the fifties because that seemed to be an interesting time period. I like a lot of the oldies music, because my grandma has always listened to that while I was/am growing up. I liked the fashion back then, it was very cute. Most guys were respectful not like nowadays, where all they want to do is "tap that". I just think that this society that we have here is getting a little ridiculous. I really do not know what that says about my personality. Maybe it means that I am like a nostalgic kind of person, I don't know. Maybe I am an old soul trapped in this young persons body.
Well we really do learn something new everyday! On my research paper my character lived in Oklahoma Reservation in 1835. In 1835 which was during the time period of the "Trail of Trears". You see the government wanted to remove the Cherokee Indians from Geroiga to the Indian or what is known as the territory of Oklahoma in 1839. There were about 2,000 families that were torn apart from one another. To me I think I rather not liv in that time period because i will not like to be apart from my famliy and friends. i don't want to wake up every morning knowing that i could me or my famliy members that i could die in a couple of days. but if i could go back to any time period i would like to go to one of my famous artist Michealanglo , in art, so i could meet him in person. I really would like to know what made him want was the become an artist in the first place?Who wanted him to pick up a pencil and pad? I would really like to be in his presents so he could show me some of his art work. and what was the inpsiration for making those art work that some of us known and love today. My choice on my time period says on my personality is that i really love art and i would like to in prove more in my art work. And some day i would i become famous just like my idol Michealanglo.
Well , if I lived life in the 1890's , MY rights and such wouldn't be TOO different , a little less capeability to do things because I AM a woman , but for the most part , as sad as it is , white people's treatment didn't get effected , considering the JIm Crowe Law was highly in effect . Not saying that's right or anything , it's jsut the way it is . If i could go back to any time period in my life , it would be when I was about 9 , and driving to California from Florida . Everything was so easy and good then , our family was together and close , it was just us , the open road , and hotel rooms . I wish I could experience it again , if not then then now . Journey's like that help you learn so much about your self , unfortunately , I was too young to have some sort of life changing epiphany , but i think if I were to go now , I'd learn alot about the person I am . I'm not compeltely sure what this tells about my personality , maybe that I miss my family togher ? Maybe I just love the freedom of the open road with a destiation , but no sure way of getting there ? I'm not really sure , but I know I'd give anything to do it again .
well if i lived at the same time as my character as a female it was basically just being a mom and a good wife and helping your husband out with cropping and stuff.i had the california gold rush.(san fransisco in 1846).so many people went to go in search of gold.if i were like the man in my picture i would probably be a husband with some kids.finding out there is gold either pack up the family or go by myself and try and strike big so i could make it by.i think i would like to go back to the time when martin luther king was around and he was doing the whole civil rights movent.i would want to go back in that time because i think its one of the most important historical events.it was a time where being of a different race other than white were being discriminated.i would probably want to go back as an abolitionist.and actually try to make a difference.i also find it very fascinating,not about how they were mistreated but how strong the people of that time were and how they fought for what they wanted and because of them it is what it is now.
In my persons time there was different rights for everyone. Live would be very different. There would be no TV, radio, or good music. So it would be hard for me to adapt. In 1849 the gold rush was going on and many people were looking for gold and not having real jobs. If I could go back in any time period it would be in 1990 to see how my life was before today. It would be cool to see me as a short person. It would be cool to see my parents and the people I knew back then. The choice that makes about my personality is that I am a couious person. I like to see what happens and if I can I would change some of the mistakes I made.
My character was from the early 1800s (1810). I think my life would be pretty boring because nothing really caught my eye that happened in 1810. If I could live in anytime I would have to say the 70s, because I absolutely love all the music from back then, I don’t know what I would do without it and my dad talks about the 70s and how the roller skated back then (dancing in it). I also would love to live in the 80s because a lot of the trends I like were made from the 80s. I like the music I like all the old school rap sand the light rock kind of music, movies, the movies I mainly like are pretty in pink, sixteen candles, the breakfast club, scarface, caddyshack, Ferris Bueller, the clothing and the entertainment (like games, mainly things to do then just sit home watching TV or on the computer). Also I think that people were nicer in the 70s and 80s then they are today. Hearing things from back then makes it sound like life was happier and better. Plus back then, the environment wasn’t so violent and messy for an example, people weren’t as rude as people are today. Being rude today is everywhere and every corner you turn there are people fighting and having all this rage but back then I could only image that this world was a better place. I just think that it would be so much fun to live back then, then to live in our society today.
Well theres only one way to find out. Luis start the time machine!! ahhaa that was lame, but anyway. i dont think i would even be able to survive back then. There would be nothing for me to do. I guess with all the technology we have today ive become attached to this time.
If i could go back to any time in my life it would be uummm well i cant say i happend not to long ago and mad personal. and i would be a participant in it because i would like to experience it again. what that says about my personality is that i like time travel ^_^
i think my mylife you be alot worse if i lived in my charchters time. Considering my person was a buffalo soldier. If i lived back then i would be a lot more responsible if i was a buffalo soldier. If i could go back to any time it would be in the late 70's early 80's. the time of hair metal, because i love that type of music. I would be a participant, matter of fact i would be a rock star and live the good life. That kinds of life stlye simes grate to me, sleep all day and party & play rock and roll all day . this choice say that i havea raw hard core personality. Backward I don't really like going backwards in general. But let me think if i had to leave in the time period that my chartacter was in it would be the 1890's in Vicksburg,Mississippi, and it really wasn't the place to be if you were a colored person back then. I really don't know if I would want be my character back then or not. You see I don't think i could be as ctrong mentally and physically as my character was conseridering the circumstances back then. I would have to say if i could live in any time peroid I would live back in the Victorain times were everyone wore really pretty gowns and there were castles. To me that would be the time period that i would like to live in.I would like to be a particapant not an observer. I would like to experience something new and exciting then just sit and watch. The choice that I meantion i likes shows that i can be a girly girl and still be humble and not relay on tecnology to help me get through everything. I guess going backwards really isn't that hard, it's just a matter of changing and trying new things.
If i lived in the same time period of my character my life would be terrible. I would not have alot of fun and i woudnt do things that i am doing right know. I would be a sad kid. I coundnt picture my mother, father and brother being a slave. i would of learn things by myself, and i would also have to be very responsible. i would not be able to live right if i was in the past, i might kill my self. If i could go back to anytime period in my life it would be in the 80s and 90s because that was when jordan was a star in the nba. i would of watch some of his games. i would also like to see how things were in the past.
Well in that time it was very hard because men had to work hard to kkep the food on the table. Men were very highly respected in that time period. I think i would be very respectful and very caring and loving the time would to be very hard because there was alot of wars and important things that were happening. The most important thing was transportation. There wasnt any cars or the bus to pick you up. There also wasnt any phones and computers to chat. You either had to go to the persons house if you wanted to talk to them. This time would be very hard for me.. I wouldnt like it at all it would suck alot... I need to have some inventions in my life......Peace
in my option if i were to live in the same time period as my character i find that life would be tough , and painful . i would of had to walk the Oregon trail and suffer for about 3 - 6 months . if i were to go back to any time period of my choice i would have to say i would like to go back to the beginning of time , and see how the entire earth was created . i would want to go back as an observer . even though i have read it in the bible I'd want to see it in my own eyes . its not what appeals to me about this time period it just common curiosity about how everything started . What this says about my personalty is that , im just someone that wants answers to questions that cant be proven.
If I had to live in the same time period as the person that i researched, I probably wouldn't like it. I wouldn't like it because, i would have to fight in the civil war with and against people that i know. Why would i want to kill my friends or family? I'm the kind of person that dislikes violence. I guess you could say I'm non confrontational. Also, back then, we wouldn't have any of the luxuries that we have now, such as: computers, mp3 players, etc. Since we have all of those things now, it would seem crazy to go back to a time where they had none of that. However, If i could go back to anytime period, i would go back to the 60's. I would go there as an observer because i don't want to get involved in all the drug craziness . I mainly want to go for the music and stuff like that. One of my favorite bands from that time is the Beatles, and i really want to watch them in person. What better way to do that then by actually going back in time? I think my decision to go back to the 60's says that I really enjoy music from back then. Since my dad played all that type of music when i was little, I guess, it just stuck with me. That's probably why i still like that kind of music to this day. Overall, i would just rather stay where I'm at in time, since i have all that i need, by means of technology, and other things along those lines.
During the time that my character lived, slavery and the civil war were becoming more and more of an issue. Most southern states were slave states and about 1/3 of them had slaves. Without the knowledge I have now, I'm not sure of what I would have done. If I lived down south, I hate to admit it, but I probably would have been a racist plantation owner. That's only because that's how most southerners were brought up. If I lived up north, my chances of being like that would be significantly lowered, but many northerners felt that way, also. If I could go back and live in ANY time for a brief period of time, I would want to live with the cavemen. However, I would also have their knowledge and no memories of the future. I would like to see how it all started, how raw we really are. I also want to see how much hotter chicks got since then. haha. They had to work for everything they had and nothing came easy. This shows that I have a slightly imaginative way of thinking, but that's good. It might show curiosity and mind expansion for my personality. That's all I have to say. Peace.
entrenched- To fix firmly or securelym is now added to my vocabulary. The time period of my report was 1812 I cant even begin to think about life then. No computers, Ipods, or machines that help you calculate. I guess we have life pretty good these days. =)If i were to go back to a certain time period it would be the age when dinasuaurs lived and the earth seemed untouched. A time when the earth lacked over population, polution, violence, ignorance and hate. When it was simply "all natural" . Im not goin to lie i know i would never survive in this time period so i must say i would just be an observer. I think this shows the more earthy and simple side of my personality.all and all i think visiting the age of the dinosurs would be most interesting.
If I had to live in Trenton, NJ in 1900, I would probably not like it. I would not like it because I would have to live without modern technology like TVs, i-pods, and computers. I would also be living very poorly because Trenton was a very bad area to live at. It would not be that bad though because I am a boy, but it would be even worse for a girl because they get do not get the same rights as a boy. If I could go anywhere in time I would go to the late 1940s. I would want to go there because so many big things happened then. World War II had just ended, so America was just becoming the strongest country in the world. I would get to see Jackie Robinson break the color barrier in baseball and start the civil rights movement. I would like to be a participant because it would be better if I actually experienced all this. I would also get to hear great music from people like Frank Sinatra. I would get to see the beginning of the movie industry and the beginning of television. I think this choice says that I am a big sports and music fan.
The time period I got was 1828 in Georgia. What my story was basicly about was a young boy growing up during the time of the trail of tears. After I began reading stories about the time, I thought that it was horrible to live in that time. There was so much sorrow and I don’t know how some of these people were able to survive through those conditions. I mean these people survived through starvation, lack of shelter and seeing hundreds of people die everyday. I could not imagine myself walking miles and miles everyday through horrible weather with my family. If I could go back to any time period and live I would love to live in the period of the movie Grease. I think the movie was set in the 50’s, I’m not sure. I love that movie and the people seem more layed back then now. Life wasn’t about being on the computer all day and checking out peoples myspaces. People in the 50’s hung out at diners and drank milkshakes. I would like to participate because it would just be better to actually experience what it was like then just watch people live it. I would want to have memories of how people lived back then and have expierences. I think it’s just better to do things then watch. It just seems like u learn so much more from things that way. The 50’s appeals to me because it’s just so different then any other time period and it seems the most interesting to me. The time period just seems fun to live in and if I could live in any time period it would deffently be that one.
I wouldn't want to live in the time of my character because like nothing happened during that time and he is boring. If I had to live their I wouldn't last at all. I would be bored to death. If I had to go back I'd want to live in the 60's because a lot of things happened in the 60's. My life would be great beacuse the wars and everything like that happend and it would be nice to live their when it happened. I would like to go back as an angel to watch over people and help them through their lifes. The fact that their was a lot of protests and people against war. That my personality is great because I like to help people and I don't want to be apart of the cause. I want to be against it.

I think that it would have been hard for me to picture myself as the character that I have. Given that she was a nurse, I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been able to perform many of the things that nurses did back then. Some of the things that they had to do were care for bullet wounds, fevers, and amputate limbs. Too much blood freaks me out and having to amputate something off another person's body would give me nightmares. During this time of the Civil War, I think that I would be really depressed. I wouldn't be able to see my family and I wouldn't know if they were still alive or not. If if could go back to any time period, it would have to be the Tudor perriod in England. The Tudor family was Welsh but they were ruling England and Ireland at the time. This 16th century time period I absolutley love because of the clothes that were worn back then, how women presented themselves, the royal jewels, and so much more. The Tudor Show on Showtime is phenomenol because it depicts the lifestyle so well. If possible, I would have liked to participate in this time period because it's WAY better than just being an observer from the sidelines. I would be a princess that had a lot of power, respect, and jewels. This says a lot about me. For starters, I love all kinds of fashion from different time periods and the music that goes along with it. I'm very carefree and my name means princess too. My parents always joke around and say that I could fit into royalry just fine. I am very proper and choose my words carefully and articulately. Most of the time when I sit down, I sit with my back straight, hands folded in lap, and one ankle tucked behind the other. My dad says that I like to be chaffeured around. In other words, living in that time period makes perfectly since to me because for the most part I already act like they do, just in a present-day form.
My character was an Indian man who lived through the Oklahoma reservation, one of the results of the Trail of Tears. The Oklahoma Reservation was a reserve in which Indians were forced to go by demand of the American people. Thinking of how depressed and mistreated these people must have been, I am positive that livivng a life during this time period would not have been too pleasant. Although I would be an American in this situation, I would hate to see these poor innocent people being trated so negatively. Also, having to listen and see nonstop conflict would not be the way i would want to live. If I had the option of going back to any time period in the world, I would probably choose the time of the Holocaust. Although this was very depressing and dangerous for many people, i have always found this topic interesting above all the others. I would definately want to be an observer due to the fact that people were mistreated so horribly and were constantly worrying and in fear. Living like this would be no wish for me, however i feel that the conflicts over religion and race during this time are more interesting than anything else I have ever learned in history. I dont beleive that wanting to live during World War 2 has much to say about my personality, it is just a topic that, in my opinion, is very fascinating and enjoyable to me.
If I could go back to any time period in my life time I would go back to the time when I would go back to the day when busted I stink bomb on the bus which was 2 weeks ago. I would want to back to that point of my life because I’m still on punishment for that and if I could go back and prevent my self from doing that I would. I really don’t like being on punishment at all. If I could go back at that time I would want to be my conscious so I can prevent my self from doing what I did so I wouldn’t be on punishment now. I think what I did about at that time that appeals to me is I know I shouldn’t do it again. Well personally I think I’m silly person for doing that but I do feel kind of bad for the people on my bus who had to suffer that smell on the bus. So that’s what time in the past I would go back to, to change my history.
I'll start off with saying that life would be extremely different in Yorktown, VA in the year 1781. There was a war going on. Unlike the present day "War on Terrorism" stuff, for the people who lived in Yorktown back then had to endure hearing guns and cannons go off all day. Also, they didn't have much technology; unlike today. I think that I would have been a housewife because back then, women didn't really have jobs. I would probably get bored. I don't know. I just know now that I don't want to be a housewife. I do want kids, but I want an education first. As of now, I want to be a field scientist.. So, if I had the opportunity to go back to any point of my life, it would have to be either when I went to see The Nutcracker Ballet or Where the Wild Things Are. If I had to choose between the two, it would be The Nutcracker Ballet because it was really a pivotal moment in my life. Really. I was around the age of 4 and was pretty much in love with the play. My mom told me that I wanted to go on the stage and dance with them. However, I couldn't so I threw a fit. When I got over it I then got interested in the play. It amazed me so much that my mom recorded it for me when it came on TV and I would watch it just about every day. I see that as musical inspiration, even if I was only about 4 years old. I still enjoy listening to Tchaicovsky. Anyway, I would like to go back as an observer; invisible. At the time of this event I'd go back to, I was care-free and I had nothing to worry about. My personality screams childish at times and I think that sometimes I really do want to be a toddler again. <3
Well, what I have for my paper is the Oklahoma Reservation, in 1835. On my picture I have a very old indian guy. If I lived at the same time he did, I would live with the Cherokee indian tribe from Georgia at the new reservation, after the indians removal to the west of Mississippi river. Their reservation was separated in a lot of large villages, so I would probably live in one of these. As a young girl, I would be helping the women o the tribe at the plantation (they were agriculture people) and to take care of home. There would also be leaders in the tribe and a main chiefe who I would have to show a lot of respect. If I could go back to any period of time, I would go back to 1500 in Brazil, before the portuguese colonists from Portugal had descovered it. It was just native people, they were free to do whatever they wanted to, they had all the beautiful beaches in Brazil only for them, all the fruits, everybody new each other and worked together in their tribe...I just think it would be really good to live like that back in that time. Sometimes when I'm reading about any period of time, how life was like, I think if it was actually like that that really happened what the history books and historical documents tell us today. If I could, I would go back as an observer just to know, if the things that we study today about the past, if it really happened like that, and if all of them are actually true. My choice about prefer to be an observer or a participant if I could go back in a certain period of time, actually says something about my personality. I'm a very curious person and i really like to observe things. I guess that's why i chose to be an observer.
My character was Frederick Douglass taking place in 1855 in Albany, New York. If I lived in the same time as my character did I think I would love it. I liked the way that they dressed and danced and had fun. Elvis was back than and he is one of my favorite singers. Everything was full of excitement and joy. It seemed like I a time to look cute and go out to a diner. The style of clothing was cute back than. The way that people actually dressed decent everywhere you went and men treated the women respectfully. i think it seemed like a very interesting fun time in their lives. If I could go back to any time period and live in it I don’t think I would want to be a participant. I was born in my time because that’s what was supposed to happen for me. If my way of life was supposed to be back than. It would be. I don’t think I would want to go back in time to another place to live my life because my life is here right now. I like having computers, cell phones and cars. I think that everything right now isn’t peaceful like back than but nothing will ever be 100 percent happy in any period of time. I think that if I had to go back in time I would go as me now and get to see all the different years before me. I would want to see time before and before me. Like if I could I would want to see the 60's than the 50's and than the 40's and get a little taste of what they were all like. it would deffinatly be interesting to go back in time to any place and see the differences and similarites to the way i live now but i wouldnt change the time i live in. i think that the time peoirds before me all interest me to some degree because it was different than how i live now. there was times when there wasnt cars and people had to go by foot. when people had to catch there own food and didnt have to go to acme. i think that going back in time would be cool for a moment to see things but not to live in.
Whell i do look at the time that has passed since the time that i am in now! But in my opinion i wouldn't like to go back at anytime in the past. But the main reason is because of our technology now that helps us. In the past with all our resources you could barley live up to the age of 60(medieval times). But if i would go to a time in the past it would be during Jesus's time, because no one is sure if he he was real or not, even the true believers has some dought in them(me). But if i did go to that time, i owuld like to just go and see as an angel as u said, because if i was their i dontfeel like walking witha cross on my back and getting wiped for the sins of everyone. But since im a guy, i wouldn't be mistreated and abused as the women in the past. They couldnt even vote nore have an opinion in things, so they would just get raped, abused, and basically become a slave. But in my opinion again, since the past, the abuse and slavery that we have taken on people has changed and everyone that comes to the U.S.A. legally has the rights as everyone else. But to tell you the truth, i wouldnt want to go ito the past, i would just like to stay in my on time unless it was to see Jesus.
my character was an six to eight year old child in south carolina at 1842 who works in rice filds in stuff like that and in that time life it seemed hard. another reason why i wouldn't want to go back to that time period ins because i would need my technology. i probably wouldn't mind if i didn't depend on my electronics so much and also there wasn't that much food supply for my slave and im a persom who likes to eat and when i can't eat i get cranky and somethimes angry. if i could go back to a time period in my life it would be when i reached the age of 14 because thats when i really started acting up and show who i realy am as a person. the reason why i would go back is to see how i acted because my friends says that was my funniest momments at that age. i would jus want to sit back and observe how i was because i would be the one who would always make everyone eles laugh but when i need a laugh there was no one in sight. Basically i just want to lauhg at myself. i would say this choice says that my personality is fun. i don't know mrs bunje but i did learn how to answer your deep detailed questions more by you knid of pushing me in class to express my ideas and i want to say thank you.
If I were to live in the same time period as my character around 1852 in Washington DC. I would be lost out of my mind. I don't know what I might do. First of all My house would probably be a big mess there would be mothing else to do in the house but write and read books. WOW... A house filled with no entertainment, no tvs no video games stereos etc. I would probably kill myself and make sure when I got reincarnated that I come back in the time period that I wish. If I could go back in time for a day to observe as an angel or some sort of manifestation I would deffinitely take the oppurtunity. It makes look back at all that the world has become of and how much we take it for granted. OMG and if I ever got sick or needed some type of surgery they might just have to kill me right there and then because back then they believed in draining all the blood in the body to cure you for some strange reason plus there weren't any anesthesia drugs so you could feel every little thing that they did. This period or era may appeal to me because it is so different from our civilized way of living. My choice on this questions probably says that I am very needy of material things. but thats alright because I'm pretty darn proud of it...LOL
To live back in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1890 would probably not be alot of fun. Considering the choices given, i would ultimately have to choose being an observer rather than a participant. In these times, slavery (at least in the south), although it had been abolished, (much later than in the northern areas mind u)things remained very difficult, segregation was a completely different issue & caused trouble & sorrow for many in these times. I would be an observant because i ultimately couldnt participate in racist activities that would degrade a race of people thought to be inferior just because of their skin color. I would rather not just stand there, but of these choices, i would have to pick the latter.
Picking a time period to travel to, now that's a whole nother story. I think, of all decades & centuries, i would like to travel to & live, at least for a while in the 70's. There are alot of different reasons, but i really am just fascinated in some ways by the whole time period. And it would be just really interesting to get a real view of it. Im not sure what it says about my personality to be honest. Perhaps it could mean that i would rather visit a time period more relavant to this one than say, like 200 years ago. That i would rather see like my parents generation & things of that sort. Hmm, i think it would be quite an experience.
I would just hate to be in the same time period as my person there is was just to much going on. Setteling to the west and alot of moving just not for me. So if it were me I probably could not stand it at all. If I could go back into any one time period it would have to be during the Roman empire, hands down. But I would absoutley have to be there as just an observer. I would hate to be anyone else during that time the leaders like Ceasar were killed by there own people, and the soliders were is constant battle. I would never want to have to be in any of those situations. So an angel like observer would only make sense. I've always wanted to see what was really going on during that time, what was running through Ceasars head before battle, and to see who really killed him. So I could maybe find out why he found the need to conquer every thing that he was capable of. I also wanted to know what type of person he was, a backstabber,horrible person, or just a jerk.There must of been something that caused him to be brutally murdered by his own people and I have always wondered what it was. And of course because I'm in latin class,and all we learn about is events Roman history, so what better to do then actually experience it. I don't believe that this reflects too greatly on my personality. It just shows that I have an interest of learning,I guess.
The time period i have on my paper is the oregon trail personaly that would suck to go back there because of all the deises and people dieing and the econmic depression with the indians being taking away from there homelands it would just be terraible to live back then, But if i could go back to any period id probly go to the dinasaurs and be an observer just to see if things really went the same as our books say they do. And it would be pretty cool to obsever dinasaurs i mean think about and to see if there were really cavemen. Because i dont think thats to true because wouldnt the dinasaurs have eating them? Well alot that happened in the past really didnt interest me really :(, but then i sit and wonder am i being to harsh on the past. Maybe i am because without the past we wouldnt have the present. If i lived in the same time as my character i probably would have been dead after the first war. i would had a husband at war and worried my self to death literally. i know i wouldnt know what to do, because living in todays society everything is handed to me, and most things i really dont have to work for unless i really want to. i could not have let my husband go fight for somthing we didnt believe in. i would have gone to a time where all people were treated almost the same,i would try to push the social boundaries as far as possible making it hard for blacks and whites not to get along. i really couldnt see myself in any time period because i couldnt handle what was going on as well as those people. i think i could just go observe what was happeneing like if i was invisible and no one could see me and i could just take a look on what happened. i am a strong person and saying i couldnt handle the time period kind of contridicts my strengths as person now. but right about now i can handle alot thats going on because i have more ways to deal, back then they didnt really have anything...i rather stay in my time and make it better!!! :)

THE TIME PERIOD MY GUY LIVED IN WAS THE HAYMARKET SQUARE RIOT. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT UNTIL I RESEARCHED IT. IT WAS THE FIGHT TO GET 8 HOUR WORKDAYS BECAUSE PEOPLE BACK THEN WORKED FOR 12 TO 16 HOURS. ALL OF THE BUSINESSES HAD 2 YEARS TO CHANGE IT TO 8 HOURS, BUT SOME DIDN'T. THAT'S WHEN THERE WAS A MEETING HELD ABOUT THE HOURS. THEN THERE WAS A BOMB THROWN INTO THE CROWD KILLING 7 POLICE OFFICERS. THAT WAS THE HAYMARKET SQUARE AND THAT WAS A TOUGH TIME. IF I COULD GO BACK TO ANY TIME, IT WOULD BE TO THE 1800'S. THEN I COULD SEE THE TOUGH TIME SLAVES HAD BACK THEN AND MAYBE I COULD APPRECIATE THEM MORE. In my paper it talked about how the war just finish and they founded the railroad.. If I lived during the same time as my character I would not be very respected because for one; I am woman and because of my race. I imagine the men expecting me to live and serve them. I know it would be very hard for me if I lived back in those times just because of my race and sex. Mainly, because it was in the south . If I could go back in any period of time I guess it would have to be my dad’ years. This is because of all the stories he told me when I was a younger girl. He would tell me all the averters her face and all the unbelievable things he accomplish. He told me how he would work on the boats and ships when he was only five. He told me he travel all the sea with his grandfather and dad, he told me how he helped bring some people out of Cuba and into the U.S. My daddy was amazing. I would like to go back as his age and enjoy all the things he did. Maybe , its because I didn’t feel as those me and him had a lot of time together. This period of time would make me see how sometimes you have to work for your goals even if it takes a lifetime. This period would just show how I want to do new, and unforgettable, things. I really brave and I love doing things no else done before. I love the ocean and sealing threw the sea would almost make me feel free. Maybe this tells people the I really love my dad and I would do anything to see him again or maybe it shows people how I want to be just like my dad. Either way, the period I have chosen tells me that I am a very active person.
If I was liveing in the time that my Character did then I dont know what I would do with my life! The time was 1812 and it was a hard time to live in so I wouldnt like to live back in that time. I would like to go back in time but not to live, but to watch. If I were to live in a different time than this I would go nuts and not know what to do. But I would like to go back to 1982 because that was when my older brother was born and I would like to see what was going on back then when he was the only baby in the house. Now there are five boys and everything is crazy. I think my choice says that I would rather be by myslef insted of with my brothers, but sometimes I would miss them

If i lived at the same time as my character i know one thing would happen for sure, my annoyance of not having civilized bathrooms. Going to bathroom in an out-house isn't the type of thing i would do let alone enjoy. If there was one time in history i could go back and live, it would have to be the Sengoku Period in Japan. This period is towards the larger era called the Muromachi Period. During the Sengoku Period, Japan was having intense internal warfare for control of the country. What makes me want to go back to this period is, because was a civil war for control of Japan amongst samurai. I love swords high above most things in this world and i love training in using them. To be able to actually train and be one of the best samurai during this time of creation would have been great. I could decide the fate of Japan with my sword and my perfected, unparalleled sword style and some other highly skilled swordsman. What my choice says about my personality i think would be that I don't mind violence, immensely like swords and sword fighting styles, and would rather be training/learning a profession than studying books to become a doctor or anything like that. Nothing really to it than my yearning to wage war in Japan with swords an their complex, skillful fighting styles.
for my research paper my particular person was from the revolutionary war time. life back then must have been struggling and full of hardships. the colonies were struggling to rebuild their new life and didnt have the easy, lazy life we live today. i probably would not want to live back then because of how difficult but if i could pick any time peirod to go to i would want to visit the 60's. i would want to go back as a particpant not and observer. people felt free at that time and i like that. i also love a good protest. i liked the music back than and truly i feel that i am a hippi at heart. i walk around barefoot all the time and i would love to just go in a van, travel the country, meet new people and play my guitar for money. life seemed exciting back then and i find the hole time period quite interesting. i think it really brings out my personality because i love to follow my music and be independant. i'm outgoing and adventurous and i think i could handle living in the 60's.
ahh man the past.Ms.bunje you are always coming up with some crazy blogs but since you are my homie i will type this blog.well if i was to get back to 1886 it would be farely difficult for me.i mean first of all im spanish those crazy white people back in the day would've killed me or made me do a whole bunch hard labor until i died.plus the wardrobe back in those times wouldn't be my style so i would've probably always been naked.but besides that i am straight where im at i would not want to go back to those times.me personally i would have just rather been born either in the 70's or the 80's because there was alot of things going on in those times that i wish i would've been there to see. i am a big fan of old school.i wish i could've been in the little disco era and to witness the beginning of rap and hip-hop.to me the old school music was way better than the music that people listen to now.i would've probably been doing a lot more participating than observing.see in those times there was so much going on that why would you wanna sit and be a herb when you could have all of that fun and enjoy the 70's and the 80's.and the way the rap was back in those times was all about bass and beat and that is the part that i love most about music is the beat.there is alot of things that i do that is a blend between old school and new school because of me growing up in this era and having old school parents straight from brooklyn would do that to a person u kno.
If I lived in the time perioed my character dose I would be at home helping my mother or at the mines with my father helping him find gold. I would go to the 1800s because life was calm they didn't have all the stuff thats going on today except for a war but they didn't have school shootings and everyone was nicer to eachother and polite. I would prefer to go back as an observer to see hoe life was like during that time period. The way people respected eachother even during times of war and tragedy is what appeals to me. i would hate living in the time of my character because they had nothing back then, not even any helpful medicines. if i could live in any time period, it would definately be the 70's or 80's. My research paper is just a date and a place. The date is 1842 and the place was Columbia, NC. I think my life would be horrible if I lived back in that time period. This is because it was heavy slavery back then and being an African American young women it would have been hard on me. I would have to endure so much, not saying that I'm not a strong woman. I think I would want to live back then because I have it so easy with not just being some what free, it’s also the technology that we have today is way better than in old times. And the medicine is way better today people back then could die of just having a simple cold without the right medicine. If I could go back in time and choose the time period to live in I would go back in the 70's when my parents were born and also when the dinosaurs were alive. I would want to come back as a participant. I know that might sound crazy and weird but I want to really know if the dinosaurs were real and if they were how did they die off. I would want to go back and live with my parents because in their day it wasn't people getting shot and terrorist attacks or none of that, and I would rather live back then and be old than to be growing up in this day and have to watch my back everyday. How would my life be if i was living in the 1800's in Providence Rhode Island. My life would be different in many ways.I would probably go back and stay as a teen. Not only because im younger and i can live life longer its is because we have a better chance of getting better jobs and doing more things. Im not saying that it would have been that easy because during the 1800's the Great Depression took place. The Great Depression made it harder to find jobs and to live. Me personaly would like to go back than to know how it is like to do every thing and work without the technology we have today. Also i would like to see how people dressed and how there personalities would have been and how they are different from every bodies personalities these days. I dont think that i could live back than because back than they didnt have the rite medicine to cure people and i know if i got a feaver or a sevear headache i would probably die. If I had the chance to entrenched 1886 I would. 1886 is the year that i would go back to. In 1886 the haymarket sqaure riot took place. If I were there I would tell the poloce two days before it happen. Many people lives would have been saved from a bomb. After the police capture the men who were going to bomb. I wouls ask whyand tell them if they did do what is going to happen. i do that so i can mess with there mind. Then i will tell them i from the future just to freak them out. And i make sure they all get put in jail. I think This reflects the tpye of person i am . I dont want to see any one be killed for no reason.
well if i had to go back in time to live with the dude on my paper it would really suck. It was mad boring bac then. if i could go back to any time period in history i would go back to the time of the mid-evil times because they got to watch fights in the coliseum and stuff like that. i would like to go back as a observer. i think it means i have a kool personality....
my character was living during the alamo and such; when wars were the trend and I KNOW that I would die if I lived during that time. wars just arent my best friends and being around during that time...lets not talk about it. but I dont like to look back on the past that much, especially when its something bad that I wouldnt like to remember, but if I had to go back in time, I would want to be the observer during the 60s when civil rights were the serious topics spoken out of peoples mouths. that time is just so interesting to me. I dont want to make it seem like I'd WANT to watch people get beaten by police or bitten by K9 dogs, but it would be interesting to see how it all started, how the "ninja" took the beating, how the fight ended, and what the government did about it. the fact that I picked this time period shows that my attention is to my background, my ancestors, and I feel that going back into that time, I can learn to appreciate life more because we DO have way more priveleges and rights that they didnt have back then. being able to see how life was like having to go to only a colored bathroom, a colored water fountain, sitting in the back, not being able to associate with other white people, not getting the job that you want or even deserve because you're colored...but this was only if I HAD to go back in time. I like to live life in the present. but if there was no past, there would be no present OR future, but sometimes you do have to look back on events in your life to understand them better.
Living in New Orleans in 1803, would have been very different from my current lifestyle. No electricity, no automobiles, no canned food (invented in 1795 but not common till 1860's), no bathrooms, no air-conditioner or heater, there just wouldn't be anything modern. However, I don't think I would mind all that much. I would learn to deal with it all and I wouldn’t mind living in the wilderness. If I could go back to any period in time, I would go back to the middle ages or dark ages. It's a time where one could forge there destiny by the tip of a sword. With a strong will anyone could become someone. Battle in my opinion was so much nobler than warfare today as well. This time period appeals to me because I would be walking among the greats and I could make something of myself in the way I want to. My choice in time periods speaks loudly about my personality. It shows that I’m not satisfied with just going down as another person and I want to become something more. It also shows that I’m not totally happy with the life I’m being pushed into. I have a martial mindset and a strategic mind that I don’t get to use.
if I could go back in any time I would want to go back when there was not like any electricity and when they didn’t need all the technology that we use. i would want to see how they did things on there own and how they lived without all the "need to haves" that we live with. i think it would be interesting to be able to do things without all the technology and to see if things were a lot harder back then. if i could go back to how it was back when there was not technology i think i would want to be an observer like a angel or something because i don’t think i would be able to make it. i would be able to deal with a lot of the little things we take for granted. i would problem complain a lot and not like it at all. but then again i would not know anything else like how it is now and i wouldn’t know what i was missing.
The character i had lived in Georgia in 1828. Yes Georgia seem like a nice place to live in. Me peronally would like to visit the ATL one day. But what my character was going through I wouldn't want to be there. Life would be hard for me. Having to walk over a thousand miles jus being about 7 or 8 years old is very terrifying just thinking about it. Running a 400 meter in track is very tiring for me so i know i cant walk 1000 miles. I think that would be hard for anyone to do. If i could go back into any period of time it would be in like the 70's because everything was cheap. You could go buy whole bunch of candy for 10 cent. And gas and bills and stuff wasn't that high and there wasn't that much violence either. I would be able to live back then because everything was way cheaper and you could afford stuff back then.
If i lived back in the period my person did id be way different. I wouldnt have gone through the same things as i do today and i wouldnt make the same mistakes either. well since you learn from your mistakes im going to have to say id be way different. because if i dont make the same mistakes i wont learn the same things so im pretty happy im not living back in those days. living back in those days would probably be a living hell with not having the electronics we have now like the cell phone the computer or the i pod. and i might go crazy without my electronics. if i could choose a time period to go back to it would be during the time that jesus was around 30-33 because that was the age he performed his miracles to the age he died. if i was back in those ages i would want to just be an observer so i can just witness all of it and just take it all in.i think it says i have a mature personality because i wouldnt just wanna go to some dumb time for no reason i wanna go to some time important.
well first of all life would be wayyy different if i lived when my character did. (1830's) i would probably be a slave or something. depending on where i lived. but it was also right before the civil warr which would have made life hard. plus me being a female if i wasnt a slave i would probably still have a rough life being discriminated against since im a woman. it wouldnt be good for me personally because im the type of person who gets mad when put down for what i am or what i do. so knowing myself i would probably say something stupid if they treated me any different and get myself shot or something like that. well when most people think about the whole "if you could go back in time " question they would most likely pick a time where they did something wrong so they could fix it. but thats one of my main mindsets. i cant waste time having regrets. live for the future. buttt besides that point i like the time frame i live in and wouldnt change it for the world. life might be worse now then it was before but thats just how things are and if i had the choice i wouldnt change the time period that i live in. everything about our time period except all the crime and hate is appealing to me. i like the technology and i guess i can say just the way of life. i think my choice kind of makes me sound uncreative or materialistic but thats not really who i am. i just dont think i would have a better life in any other time then the one i am in. and im not a materialistic person but i cant even lie. i would not be able to live in any place where there is no good bathing system lol. or electricity. and lif without computers is pretty rought. thats why i would just like to stay in the TWENTY FIRST CENTURY. If I were to go back in time as the same time as my character I would be one the many slaves that were just being freed by their "masters". I would be homeless and poor so there fore I would probably have to go back to my slave "master" and work for the bare minimums just so I could have a little. I would be over worked and underpaid so life would be tough and it would be a while until we are able to over come the struggle.
Although there are a lot of people who say if they could go back in time it would be sometime where a race was being ostracizes I wouldn't be able to do that. I t may seem that it may be a good idea but it in fact not. If I was to go back in time during any point in slavery as much as I think I would help things get better I cant. Although the phrase goes it starts with one person it really wouldn't help. If I went back with the knowledge that I have now I would be beaten to death. I wouldn't want to participate or observe because just the sight a race being ostracizes would make me hate people in general for a long time therefore making me become an angry person.
Even if I had the choice to go back in anytime period I wouldn't. There are many things that mankind had to overcome and times were rough. In today’s society Americans are very weak as much as it hurts to say but its true. We would not be able to survive in another time but now. So I wouldn't want to go back in time because I am to accustom to what that is happing now.

for my research i did the years of 1876 to 1883. i think that it would of been horrible. only because not alot of the new technology was out. new electriciy system was just invented. if i could go back in time i would go back to the 70s. only because most of the exciting things happened and people did crazy things though i wouldn't try nothing crazy that would kill me but i would be exciting to be around that and observe. so i guess i go back and be a particicpant that just just parties but with non drugs because i hate drugs they make you look ugly>>lolol. i guess from the time i picked i would think that i am a very outgoing person.
As for the man I'm doing my research paper on, I wouldn't really want go back to his time zone, the 1920's. That period of time in my opinion just seems kind of boring although I have learned that we as individuals haven't grown or learned from mistakes made in the past. My research paper is about the coal strike in 1902 and explains how the strikers became savages, like animals. Many people died during the coal strike due to the stiker's rage although its ashame to say that we haven't really become any better. The Virgina Tech massacre is a perfect example. So if I were to come back during a certain time period I would come back to this time period, but come back as an observer. Even though being an observer might be disturbing at times because you get to see the secrets that so many people hide but you also get to see the better things the nice gestures one gives another that most people don't notice because their stuck in their own little box. What this says about my personality, I don't really know. What I do know is that I need to seperate myself from societies expectations, like instead of trying to fit in be friends with the people who except me for who I am. If more people don't start thinking about fixing mistakes that were made in the past sooner or later there won't even be an option to fix the mistake, we'll live in a world full of hatred and savages.
After doing my research which just so happens to be exactly a hundred years ago, life back then was incredibly different. If I lived back then i would probally be a kid working for his father. If not my father i would have a job somewhere. Also back then men had a standard to live up to. For instance if you were a 15 year old boy you always left the house with a dress shirt, dress pants and dress shoes. It was rare to wear what you wanted. If i could go back in time and live in any period of time it definitley be the 60s. My parents had the experience to grow up during this time and i think it would be great to be appart of something special like that time period. I would go back as a participant because id want to be apart of the "revolution" What appeals to me about that time is that everything was changing and people began living life how they wanted. Also it seems like a good experience rebeling against the machine and actually having a great impact on american culture. If i could go back in any period of time? good question since im a huge history buff i would go back the time of ancient greece with the thought of greek mythology. i would choose this time era becausethis was a time of a new government and i would like to travel arond watch glaiators in the collisium and look at the hanging gardens, the pryrimids, and of couase like to have a job on the first greek water and sewage system. this would be a great time too check out greek mythology and see what these people were thinking about and watch people try to convince me to beliive in Zues hades, and athena.
Well my person was from new york in 1923 and it was a baseball player. Life in 1923 seemed like it could relate to some of the things that go on with our society now. Thiers diffrences to like Hitler was out in that time and people were being killed all over and the K.K.K. still had a trendmous outlook on people. But as far fetched as it sounds some of those same things take place in our nation year 2007 Like our president yea he doesnt kill everyone but you might as well compare him to hitler how he has free innocent men being captured and killed by iraq just because he wants them to go fight for war. Yea i know they took 3 major buildings that we cherished but still we need a break too and so do they. They're holding our people hostage because they belieave thier sent over there to kill and yea they are but not all times. The time pd i would want to visit is proabley a little bit before my time which is 89' so i could be older now and out of school but history wise it would have to be when the dinosauers were around because i would love to have seen them with my own eyes and life back then seemed so free and harmless. but hey who knos how it really went down.
I guess it wouldn't be to good if i went back to the time of my charecter because you would have to go to war. If they chose you then you would just have to go. That would not be to good, because most likely i would not last to long. If i could go back to anytime period i would go back to the 70's or 80's because that is when jazz became big. I would want to be in the period of jazz because that is what i pretty much listened to growing up. So it would be cool to meet some of the people that i have listened too. I would like to be a participate. I think that, that says that i am a chill kind of person and i could have a good time when i need to.
if i were to live in the time period of my characters it would be in 1840. i dont really kno how to describe how it would be like. it would just be VERY different then now a days. but if i were to go back in time i would probably go back to the 1940s and 1950s. i always liked how it was back then like when i saw it in movies and shows. i like the way the people dressed and danced and i just like how everything was back then. i dont kno if i would be an observer and a participant tho. actually i think i would want to be apart of that time period. so i would want to live during that time. i dont really kno what my choice was has anything to do with my personality. well i think it would be fun then and im fun now so maybe that.

If I was to go back in time to live my experience over it would be October 11th,2006. This date changed my life COMPLETELY. My parents started to see me differently and I felt alone in a world so cold.I would love to go back as an observer that way I could see how bad I made my own life for a while. When I was going so well. I tried to be as much honest as I could've been towards my parents and that's what made my life so hard for a perios of time. I would go back to this date and fix my mistake of trying to hide something so powerfuly hurtful and painful. Not only towards my parents but also towards me!!

Living During the Lowell Massachusetts i would say i would die. During that time i dn't think that i could have been able to work in a factory every day working hard and being treated unfairly. Back then it was very hard for women to get any type of respect and i doubt that i could just deal with that because i need people to give me all the respect in the world. I even feel bad for the women back then because i know they hated but it just took to long for anything to stop it and change it. If i could go back in time i would want to be an angle and see how really bad it was during Slavery. The reason why i say this is because i just would like to see how really bad it was instead of looking at television and graphic ways. I would just want to see how really bad they hurted and probably try to talk to some of the victims that had went through it. Going back in time doesn't seem that bad , something i would really want to do and then be able to tell people about my experience.
If you did not all ready know I had just recently turned seven teen years old. And must people would by really what to go back in time to like there favorite time. But that’s not so much the case for me. If I could go back I would only like to go to 2005. This was the year I had been suspended for fighting in school. See this had changed my whole world. My dad and I had always had a close relationship but when this happened he would even talk to me for anything. It had gone on for about a year. See I don’t think we will ever be the same again so if I could change that I would. The only thing I really want is to be my daddy’s little girl again. So I would only like to go back to 2005 the year that changed my life.
Richmond, Virginia in 1864 was a time during the civil war. Since I am African American, I would have been a slave back then. To sit here and imagine what life might have been like as a slave is actually very scary. In this case, I would rather be an observer in this case because could observe just how terrible white slave owners treated black people. For me, seeing slaves being whipped right in front of me and knowing that I can't so anything about it frightens me too. I would never want to be a participant because of the fact that I too would be whipped. I would be called names, disrespected, and would constantly yearn for freedom. This is a miserable feeling that I would never want to endure by first person. I'd rather watch and learn. I would feel really terrible too; however I wouldn't want these happening to happen to me. 1980 seemed to be a great year. I would love to live in the 80s. Big gold chains and cute clothing would be one of the main reasons why I would love to be a part of the 80s. In this case I would be a participant instead of an observer. The 80s seemed like it was so much fun and I would never want to just sit there and observe fun. I would want to be a part of it. The style of the 80s to me seems so cute and life just seemed like a better thing. It seems like there were less diseases to worry about and more happy times. It seems like there was a lot of good music too! I do think this says a lot about my personality though. I think it says I like to have fun and party. No, I'm not a party animal; however, fun is one of my priorities in life. Fun is like everything. This is nothing new to me though for the simple fact that I have already known that I love to have fun! I'm a fun girl period. Tights with cut-off sweatshirts and leg warmers are so cute to me. I'm different. Many people don't typically realize it but I think I am. I know I am. 80's are where I want to be but 2000's are where I'm stuck.
well my charachter (i never know how to spell that) lived in the west during a time of racism and hate i dont think that i would fit in to well being of jewish desent and all.they would probably ship me back to israel and as everyone knows i wouldnt like that very much but other than that i dont how my life would be if i went back in time and lived during than. though if i could go back in time i would go back to the time of the world of warcraft to meet the lord of the rings and save the dragon from the princess. i would wanna go back to this time because i like swords and knives and medival weopanry, though i also like ninja stuff. i think this reflects my personality because i can sometimes be aggressive as it was when little children ran around with knives. that doesnt reflect my personality but if i wanted to reflect my personality i would have to list a bunch of different time periods which i dont think would fit in here because i can name alot and some which i wouldnt be allowed to list.
If I lived during the Civil War I believe it would be a relatively hard way of living for me, because I am a young woman who is already used to a certain way of living. Growing up I never had to deal with war or a lack of food. So if I had to go back to the time period of my character it would be hard to live because I would be living with people fighting all around me. I would have to get used living in a disorderly manor. If I could go back to any time period it would be in the early 90’s. I would want to go back to the early 90’s to observe me as a child. I want to do that because people are always telling me the cute things I did when I was younger. I can remember some things from when I was younger but not everything. I would like to be able to remember my younger childhood like I can remember a funny story that happened last week. I think wanting to be able to remember my childhood says that I am very knowledge sneaking. I like to know everything about everything and if I don’t I want to find it out. That’s why I would want to go back to my early childhood because I don’t remember all of it which means I don’t know everything about it so therefore, I want to figure it out. The thing I most want to go back and remember is when my parents were still together and happy. I want the memories that are starting to fade refreshed and to gain some new memories.

my character lived in the 1840's in lowell Ma. i would not like to live in the time period as my character because i would not like to be told what to do from my husband. i would want to work where and i wanted and be able to do things that i want to do. if i could go back to any time period i would probly want to go back to 2000 when i started making mistakes. i would want to be a observer so i could be more experienced in life. i guess thats why they say you learn from your mistakes. i cant live life morning on mistakes i made in the past though. i have to forget the past and make the future better. i would also want to go back to when my mom grew up and see how much different it was for her to grow up compared to now. i dont think my choice says anything about my personality except that i would of liked to make better decisions.
I think if anyone of us had to go back and live in the same time that our character, we would have a bit of trouble. All the kids these days are so dependent on their tvs, ipods, cell phones and the computer. (myself included) I think we would be lost without them, which is kind of disappointing when you think about it. I thought about this question for quite some time and I finally came to the conclusion that... If I had the chance so go back in any time period and live my life, I wouldn't. I believe that God put me here at this time and age for a REASON. I love my life just the way it is. Of course I would love to go back to a different time period where there was no hated in the world, but that is just not possible. There has always been hatred and war. Since the beginning of time. I hear my grandmother talking to me sometimes about how she walked to school and played outside until dawn with her friends just walking all over the neighborhood. Everyone knew eachother. She had no fears about getting kidnapped, shot or rapped. This makes me sad, because everywhere we go today- there is fear. Nobody my age ever had the chance to experience that. Which gets me to thinking ... What the hell is this world coming to!? Death and war? People need to wake up and smell the roses. Peace is such a wonderful thing. Everyone needs to stop worrying about themselves.
Well,if I could go back to any time period I think that I would go back to the 1864 and 1863 just because the battle of Gettysburg was going on and woman didn't have to go to battles. It would be a big difference for me because they wore them big dress's and had there hair up all the time and stayed in the house cooked and raised the children pretty much all by themselves. They were polite back then and not really talk back to one another or start anything with the girls. I think that this time period appeals to me because everyone was polite back then and weren't ingnorint this time period. I think thats whats wrong with the world now there to much hated. I think that my personality would be different I think I would be really quite and alone all the time be miserable and kinda hate it.
The time period I was given was the battle of Gettysburg my picture was of a southern solider fighting for the rights of his men.He felt as though slavery was the right thing to do.Unfortuantly he lost that battle and was devasted for that was his first battle he had lost since the civil war had started.The civil war was a very harsh time for those who lived in it.The wives stayed at home an took care of everything while the husband fought even if it was against their will.Me live in that time period? What a Oxymoron.I couldnt picture having to constanly live in fear and anticipation being that im black hoping that i wouldnt get killed or that the war would be over and I would be freed if I lived in the south.For all those who came before me I am very grateful.

In my story my time period was 1881 Tombstone Az. I would hate living in my time period because everyone in my story gets killed. I wouldn’t like living in a place that I have to worry about someone back stabbing me. Another issue in the date 1881 is that the world just suffered a depression and it would be a hard time period to live in. When I travel back into time I would like to live in that time period. I would like to live in the 60s. I really don’t know what makes me want to go back into the 60s but it was a cool time. The world was changing and I could see a lot of history. Music is a way of life and that time period is where it started at. I would also like to see family when I travel in time because I hear a lot of talk about my grand father so I would like to run into him. How does this reflect my personality? Ha, I really don’t know how me choosing a time period can tell you about my personality. The 60s seems like awesome period and somewhere that I wouldn’t have total culture shock when I get there.
I honestly think that if i was to be alive in the same time as my research paper character i would have a horrible life, probably not going to school and most likely working in a coal mine (where my character worked). If i could go back any point in time it would most likely be the medieval time as an observer, mostly because i find that time very fascinating and interesting. I think that says that i have a very open-minded personality.
If I lived back in the time period of my character then I would not know what to do with myself if I had any knowledge or remembrence of the future. Life would be so boring and chacnces are I would have been sent to fight in the civil war anyway. I wouldn't be scared to fight if I had no knowledge of the future but knowing that the South lost(my guy was a southener), then I would be really scared. I don't want to join the ARMY or anything, but if I had no choice then I obviously would. I have fired guns before so it wouldn't be that hard. If I could go and live my life in any time period, I don't think I would because I love everything I have now. If I could, I would live in the future and take everything with me because I truly don't want to change a thing. My life is pretty much perfect, even though it has it's bad moments, quite a few sometimes, I still would like to keep it the way it is.
the time my character was in was 1923.it was really poor and it was during the war.i wouldnt have really liked to live in that time.if i could go backin in time i would go back to the 1960 and thats when my mom was born. i would like to see how my mom lived.and what the fads were and how people lived their daily lives.i would go as an observer just so i could have a greater appreciation for the time my mother lived in and how her life was.it only appeals to me because im so interested in how my moms life use to be and its says that im a very understanding person and i like to compare todays life to back in the day.
If I lived the same time my character did, it would not be good because they had no showers. Times would have been a little rough for me. If I could go back in time, I would go back where my pop pop was a little kid so I could have had him in my life longer. So like we can play in the sandbox and things like that. So I would know what it was like to be in his shoes, such as did he get bullied, did people bully him, did he get in any fights, what he did for fun. There would be so many questions that I have for him. I would want to go as an angel to watch over him when he was little. The time my grandfather was little. I would want to watch over and see how my nana and poppy meet, like was it just love and first site?There would be so many questions i would have.
Hmmm if i lived about a hundred years a go, how would i be? I really couldnt see myslef likeing it at all. First, i wouldnt be able to do much like there was no T.V. which i dont watch much but still. Plus, we wouldnt be living in a great society and people would be looked at differntly, which that isnt cool. Their would be alot of racism and i coulnt really live with that. Any time in my life hmm probalby this one time when i was like 7-8 and my family went to florida were my dads side of the famil practically lives. We went up there for like a family reuinion and it was so much fun. We had like jet skis and wave runners, boats we went fishing and just did so much stuff, i would love to go back and do that. Actually i would want to go back as like an observer to look at everyone and really get what was going on. See how i reacted to everything plus, i would love to just see my grandpop just one more time and really see how he looked and to see him just one more time.

MY CHARACTER LIVED IN THE TIME PERIOD OF MAY DAY AND THE HAYMARKET SQUARE RIOTS. IF I LIVED IN THE TIME PERIOD AS MY CHARACTER IT WOULD BE HORRIBLE BECAUSE DURING THAT TIME EVERYONE HAD TO WORK LONG HOURS BECAUSE THE LAW FOR AN EIGHT HOUR WORKING DAY WAS NOT YET PASSED. IT WOULD ALSO BE HORRIBLE BECAUSE THE RIOTS WERE VERY DANGEROUS. MY LIFE WOULD PROBABLY BE MISERABLE, TIRING, AND i WOULD PROBABLY BE VERY SCARED BECAUSE OF THE RIOTS. IF I COULD GO BACK TO ANY PERIOD IN TIME AND LIVE MY LIFE IT WOULD PROBABLY BE LAST YEAR EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY LAST YEAR. I WOULD GO BACK TO THAT PERIOD BECAUSE THATS WHEN I MET MY LOVE AND WHERE I HAD THE MOST UNFORGETABLE MEMORIES WITH MY FRIENDS FROM MAINLAND. The time of my character's life was during the goldrush of 1849. Had I been alive during this time period I would assume my dad would've gone off in search of gold. I would've been home with my mother and sisters. He would've come back, most likely, with nothing to show for being gone. Most of the miners we not successful. That's not a life I would want to live. I like having my dad around and my whole family. If I could go back to any period in time and live my life it would have to be around the time my mom grew up. I want to go to Woodstock and eexpirience all the legendary rock and roll concerts. I think it would be a good time. Although, I like the world I'm growing up in now. It's nowhere near perfect but it's pretty freaking good. If it was perfect it wouldn't give anyone the chance to make things better and do great things which is something I really want to do.
Going back to any point in my life? Wow i would go all the way back to when my grandfather was alive. which would be maybe three years ago. As many all ready know i adore my grandfather, and i really wish that he never passed. I would date it back there because i would want to spend more time with him and bring back the time that i had with him, and the time that i didnt so i am able to spend some time with him. And just to show him how much that i really love and adore him. I think i would want to go as a paticipant so that i am fully there and in active with him and the rest of my family. the time appeals to me because i think i was most happy and everything in my life seems like it was going good for me. I kind of feel like i want to feel that again. I had some where to go when i thought that i didnt. i think that my choices says alot about my personality because i didnt just think about my self and also because i want to be able to change my wrong because i have learned from them. So i think this really does tell alot about my personality.
Even though it has just tooken me to answer this question i came to realize that i really don't care what people think about me. I figured out that every where i go no matte r what i do there is going to be people who are not going to like me and say alot of things about me and i'm going to have to realize that that is life.There is alot of people who don't like me but i don't stress about it because not everyon eon this earth is made to like me. I'm not saying that i have always been this positive about this subject because at a time i use to care what people thought about me till the point i would try ro change my ways just for them to like me but i came to realize that i have to make my self happy not every one around me. I really don't care what people think about me at all because i'm still going to be me whether they like it or not.
I think if I lived the same period as my character I would have shortly died due to my body build I would have to eat an abnormally large amount of food meaning I would die quickly. All kidding aside I wouldn't know what life would be like for me. It would be a life without the ones and zeros of technology. I honestly don't think I would survive. If I could go back to any point in my life it would be any point of my life while I was living in Galloway. I lived there until I was ten and that was probably the most enjoyable part of my life. I would like to relive every moment of it if possible. The older I get the more I hate life I would just like to have my age consist of one digit again. Life was just truly carefree then and I want that back. This choice shows I'm a lazy bum and I would rather run around playing with kites than sit down and spend 40 years in a 6x6 cubicle making money for someone else.
well the place and time i had in my project was San Antonio, Texas in 1836? im pretty sure. Well anyhow it was the alamo. this was a heckteck time for all the residents and it was very misterious about what was going to happen next. If i were in that time period i would probubly have to go out and fight to serve my country and protect it (texas) from the mexican gerneral Santa Anna. but that wouldnt be my first choose on where to go back in time. my first choice would be to go to the time period of the civil war. i would go there as a general so i could see the battles but not be envolved in it. i like the civil war so much just from learning about it in erneys class. Its really interesting to me. i think its amazing how the whole country was split in two. i think this shows that im not exactly a fighter.
I think I would like to go back to the early sixtys. I would like that because I like the vintage cars and dirtbikes that came around that time. I also like how the material items were really cheap and everything would be more afordable. People would also have more respect for the others in their comunitys. I also would like to see if the drug years are the same way they are portrayed on tv like the shows and things. however i think they are because the show has the origional footage from those years. i also want to know what my grandparents looked like when they were stoners in those years. I know they were because i was told by them they were and didn't get any storys. but i think the overall time period was fun and looked cool to me.
In my research paper I am writing about the Mormon Trail. I can imagine how it would be living in a time where people would look at you different just because of appearance, race, or religion. Actually I would like to go back to a time that hasn’t passed to long ago. I would like to go back in time to the late 1800’s or early 1900’s when racism was a huge issue in the United States. I would like to go back in time as a participant because I would want to make a difference and fight against racism. One of the things I can’t stand in life is when I see people judging others based on race or color and not who they are. And I’m sorry Mrs. Bunje but I’m not sure what this say about my personality.
If i lived in the same time my character did, I would love it. The reason i would love the year 1921 is becuase times were so simple back then and you had less things to worry aboutn, and people were always around and the world was not as bad as it is today. I would go back to being in pre-school probably because you had nothing to worry about. You did not have to worry about being popular or being athletic or anything, you jsut played all day and slept as many times as you wanted. I probably would have chosen the same personality i like the way i cat, sometimes. I made a lot of good choices when i was that age probablyt becase the way i am today is nothing special, but it is good enough. To go back then would be so great, i would eat so much and jsut sleep all the time, maybe wake up and play mario on the origanal nitendo not even knowing what i was really doing.
If i could go back in time i would go back to be an observer to watch my dad.I want to see what he did when he was my age and if he made any decisions i had to make.My mom always tell i act just like my dad with my attitude and i want to see it for myself how he acted when he was my age.
